Dan Vladar Confirmed to Start Game 4 for Flyers Against Penguins

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar will start in net for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Vladar participated in the morning skate and was confirmed as the Flyers’ starter despite an injury scare in Game 3.

Vladar appeared to sustain an injury to his right arm during a goal-mouth scramble in the third period of the Flyers’ 5-2 win in Game 3 on Wednesday. Penguins forward Bryan Rust fell over him driving through the crease, and in the collision, Rust’s left skate became tangled with Vladar’s blocker, pulling it off. Vladar remained in the game and made seven saves on the final eight shots he faced.

He did not practice Thursday, and the Flyers had an off day Friday, but Vladar was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate on Saturday. Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler praised Vladar’s resilience, calling him the “backbone of our team” and noting his competitive spirit.

Vladar has been exceptional in the series, posting a .946 save percentage as the Flyers took a 3-0 lead. This includes 27 saves in a 3-0 win in Game 2 for his first postseason shutout. Through the first three games, he has made 70 saves on 74 shots.

The Flyers have a chance to sweep the Penguins and avoid returning to PPG Paints Arena for a potential Game 5. Vladar’s availability provides a significant boost to Philadelphia’s bid to close out the series at Xfinity Mobile Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
