Volleyball Wins Second Straight Match At Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Western Carolina on Friday night in the Pete Hanna Center.

The Bulldogs (16-11, 8-4 SoCon) dominated the match, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-14. Samford showcased a strong offensive performance, led by Lauren Deaton with 12 kills, and a solid defensive front, registering 9 total blocks.

“I thought we came out with a lot of energy tonight,” said head coach Jeremy White.”Western carolina is a tough team, and I was proud of how our team responded and executed our game plan.”

The first set saw Samford take an early lead, fueled by strong serving from Emily wilson. The Bulldogs maintained control throughout, closing out the set with a kill from Deaton. the second set followed a similar pattern, with Samford establishing a comfortable lead and capitalizing on Western Carolina errors. In the third and final set, Samford’s offense was unstoppable, hitting .400 as a team to secure the sweep.

“Our team is really starting to gel,” White added. “We’re seeing players step up in key moments, and that’s a great sign as we head into the final stretch of the season.”

Brianna Jackson contributed 8 kills and 12 digs, while Ella Schrock dished out 28 assists. Defensively, Nyah Anderson recorded 5 blocks.

Samford will be back in action on Friday, November 14th, as they host Mercer at 6:30 PM in the Pete Hanna Center.
