Football Falls too Loras in Iowa Conference opener
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of wisconsin-Whitewater football team suffered a 38-14 loss at Loras College in the Iowa Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon.
The Duhawks (2-1, 1-0 conference) jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it. Loras scored on its opening drive, marching 75 yards in eight plays to take a 7-0 advantage. Whitewater (1-2, 0-1) responded with a drive of its own, but the Warhawks were forced to punt.
Loras extended its lead with a 35-yard field goal midway through the first quarter. The Duhawks added another touchdown late in the period to make it 17-0.
Whitewater got on the board early in the second quarter when quarterback carter Bradley connected with wide receiver Ryan Wisneski for a 28-yard touchdown pass. However, Loras answered with a touchdown of its own to regain a 17-point lead.
The Duhawks continued to control the game in the second half, adding two more touchdowns to extend their advantage.Whitewater scored its second touchdown of the game with 4:38 remaining when Bradley found tight end Cade nelson for a 12-yard score.
Bradley finished the game with 188 passing yards and two touchdowns. Wisneski led the Warhawks with 68 receiving yards. Linebacker Kyle Koelzer paced the defense with 10 tackles.
Whitewater will return home next saturday to host Cornell at 2 p.m.
