Warzone Mobile to Shut Down in April 2026, Activision Confirms
Activision has officially announced the end of support for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, with servers going offline on April 17, 2026. The decision, initially signaled in May 2025 with the halt of new content and in-app purchases, marks the end of the mobile battle royale experience.
Why is Warzone Mobile Being Discontinued?
According to Activision, Warzone Mobile “unfortunately did not meet [Activision’s] expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.” GamesIndustry.biz reports that the game launched in March 2024 and, despite reaching over 100 million downloads according to Google Play estimates, failed to resonate with the target mobile gaming demographic. Reddit users have too noted the relatively short lifespan of the game given its download numbers.
What Happens to Existing Players and Purchases?
Players will be able to access Warzone Mobile and its existing content until April 17, 2026. However, Activision advises players to redeem any unused COD Points in the game store before the shutdown date, as they will become unusable afterward. Activision Support confirms that refunds will not be issued for unused COD Points or previous in-game purchases. Guest accounts will also become inaccessible once the servers are shut down.
What are the Alternatives?
Activision is encouraging Warzone Mobile players to transition to Call of Duty: Mobile, a separate free-to-play title available on iOS and Android. Call of Duty: Mobile features popular game modes like Battle Royale, Multiplayer, and Zombies, as well as the DMZ: Recon extraction-based mode. The game receives frequent seasonal updates, including Ranked Play, Events, and a Battle Pass system. Activision Support highlights the ongoing support and content updates for Call of Duty: Mobile as a key differentiator.
A Brief History of Warzone Mobile
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile launched in March 2024, offering a mobile-specific Warzone experience with support for up to 120 players and cross-progression with the PC and console versions of Warzone, as well as Modern Warfare 2 and 3. Despite receiving a positive review from IGN (8/10), praising its faithful adaptation of the core Warzone experience, it ultimately fell short of Activision’s expectations for mobile engagement.
