West Java Minimum Wage for 2025 Increases by 6.5%
The Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in West Java for 2025 has been set at Rp2,191,238.18, a 6.5% increase from the 2024 UMP of Rp2,057,495. This decision, announced by Head of the West Java Manpower and Transmigration Agency, Teppy Wawan Dharmawan, follows a comprehensive process of discussion and deliberation within the Provincial Wage Council.
According to Dharmawan, the increase was determined in accordance with the provisions outlined in Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker) Number 16 of 2024 concerning Minimum Wage Determination for 2025. He emphasized the mandatory role of the Governor in setting the UMP, utilizing the proposed wage amount from the Provincial Wage Council.
“The Governor is obliged to set the UMP. This regulation mandates a 6.5% increase from the Provincial Minimum Wage of 2024,” explained Dharmawan during a press conference at Gedung Sate Bandung on December 11, 2024.
In addition to the UMP, Permenaker Number 16 of 2024 also requires the Governor to set the Provincial Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSP) for 2025. During discussions, proposals emerged for wage increases in the plantation sector and labor-heavy sectors. The plantation sector, categorised under KBLI number 01270 Agriculture of Plants for Beverage Ingredients, saw its UMSP set at Rp2,201,519, representing a 7% increase above the 2024 UMP.
Dharmawan clarified that the UMSP must be higher than the UMP, ensuring fair compensation in specific sectors.
The decision on the 2025 UMP is outlined in the West Java Governor’s Decree Number 561/Kep.778-Kesra/2024 concerning the West Java Provincial Minimum Wage for 2025, signed by Acting Governor of West Java Bey Triadi Machmudin on December 10, 2024.
The West Java District/City Wage Councils are expected to propose their District/City Minimum Wage (UMK) or District/City Sectoral Minimum Wage proposals to the Governor by December 18, 2024.
