  • Enhanced Organization: The ability to pin up to 20 chats, a significant increase from the current limit of three.
  • Ad Removal: Subscribers will not spot advertisements displayed in the Updates tab.
  • Exclusive Content: Access to unique sticker packs, new ringtones, and more expressive message reactions.

Advertising in Europe and the Ad-Free Option

In a move specific to European users, Meta will begin displaying advertisements within the “Status” or “Updates” tab of WhatsApp. These ads will be clearly labeled and presented in a full-screen format, similar to Instagram Stories. The Wall Street Journal reports this change is partly in response to European digital regulations.

To address privacy concerns and comply with regulations, Meta will offer a separate subscription that removes these advertisements for European users. This provides a choice: use WhatsApp with ads or pay a monthly fee for an ad-free experience.
