Wheaton’s Sophie Dew Earns CCIW Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton College freshman Sophie Dew has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Dew’s Recent Performance
Dew, a native of Simpsonville, South Carolina, earned the recognition following a strong start to the spring season, contributing in both singles and doubles play for the Thunder.
On February 21, Dew secured victories in both singles and doubles competition during Wheaton’s 6-1 win over St. Francis. She defeated her opponent at No. 4 singles with scores of 6-1 and 6-0, and partnered with Carly O’Leary for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles Wheaton College Athletics.
Dew also demonstrated resilience in a match against Kalamazoo on Saturday, winning a two-hour contest at No. 5 singles after dropping the first set. The final score was 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
Wheaton’s Season and Upcoming Schedule
The Wheaton Thunder women’s tennis team currently holds a record of 10-3. They are scheduled to resume competition on Wednesday, March 11, traveling to Florida for their annual Spring Break series, beginning with a match against Minnesota Morris.
