Six out of 10 Spaniards would be willing to move to another region, with Andalusia and the Valencian Community as favorite destinations, while three out of 10 would go to live in another country if necessary, according to a study by Grupo Mutua Propietarios.
The research “Satisfied with our home”, prepared with 2,317 interviews carried out at the end of last March, reveals great territorial differences in terms of the desire to change region and destination preferences.
The autonomies with the highest rate of fidelity of their inhabitants are Andalusia y Canary Islands, since 56 and 52% of them, respectively, would not move to another region. In contrast, only 14% of the citizens of Castilla la Mancha would refuse to go to another region, the same as 20% of the riojanos and 22% of the castellanoleoneses.
As for the destinations, the most desired autonomies are Andalusia (11%), the Valencian Community (7%), Asturias and the Canary Islands (6%) and the Basque Country (4%).
In any case, preferences go by area and, while Andalusia would be the place chosen for the citizens of the majority of communities, with Extremadurans at the forefront (30% of them would make that change), for the Balearic Islands it would be Catalonia (14% ), for the Castilian-Leoners the Valencian Community, for the Galicians the Canary Islands (10%) and for the La Riojans the neighboring Basque Country (24%).
