Windows 10 is nearing its end-of-support date, prompting many individuals and businesses too upgrade to Windows 11.Recent discussion surrounding Windows arose after Microsoft published a blog post detailing teh operating system’s usage statistics. The post initially stated Windows supports “more than one billion” monthly active devices. while seemingly unremarkable, this figure represents a decrease of 400 million from the 1.4 billion active monthly users reported in 2022, and a drop from 1.3 billion in 2023.

This decline in monthly active users led to speculation that the upcoming end of Windows 10 support in 2025 was a contributing factor.

Microsoft quickly addressed these concerns, clarifying the details in its blog post. The text was revised to state “more than 1.4 billion” active monthly devices. An editor’s note further confirmed this correction.

This adjustment confirms that Windows has not experienced a loss of hundreds of millions of users. However, verifying the original statistics remains difficult without data directly from Microsoft or self-reliant research firms like Statcounter.

While some users might potentially be transitioning to macOS or Linux, Windows maintains its position as the most widely used operating system, particularly within the gaming community. What are your thoughts on this? Share your opinions in the comments below.Sources: Microsoft, ZDNet
