Hawks Fall too Dayton in Hard-Fought Battle
DAYTON, OH – The Saint Joseph’s hawks battled fiercely but ultimately fell to the Dayton Flyers 3-1 at Baujan Field on Friday afternoon. The match saw both teams display strong offensive efforts, but Dayton capitalized on key opportunities to secure the victory.
The Flyers struck first, taking the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from forward Leo Folla. The Hawks responded swiftly, with midfielder Timmy Johnson leveling the score in the 25th minute, assisted by forward david Garcia. The first half ended with the score tied at 1-1.
Dayton regained the lead early in the second half, with midfielder Ben Leffel scoring in the 52nd minute.The Flyers extended their advantage in the 78th minute with a goal from forward Sam Hessel.
Despite a late push from the Hawks, thay were unable to break down Dayton’s defense. Goalkeeper Kade Callaway made several crucial saves for Saint Joseph’s, finishing with a total of six saves on the day.
The Hawks will look to rebound as they prepare to face Saint Louis on Sunday, October 5th at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at Saint Joseph’s campus.
