Fuel flow changes for Ducati and Bimota ahead of Assen, WorldSSP and WorldSPB homologated bikes updated The FIM has imposed a 0.5 kg/h fuel flow penalty on both Ducati and Bimota for the Assen round of the World Superbike Championship following Concession Checkpoint 2. The decision comes after both manufacturers were found to have exceeded the MSMA performance threshold defined in Article 2.4.3.2 of the regulations. This technical sanction, effective immediately for the Dutch round, reduces the maximum allowable fuel flow rate for the Ducati Panigale V4 R and Bimota KB998 machines. While the reduction appears minor on paper, its impact could be significant at a circuit like Assen, where engine management and fuel strategy play a crucial role in lap times and race outcomes. The move follows strong early-season performances by Ducati, particularly at Phillip Island and Portimão, which prompted the FIM to intervene under its concession system designed to maintain competitive balance. Bimota, despite being a newer entrant, has also been subject to the same regulatory scrutiny after demonstrating performance levels that triggered the threshold. In related homologation updates, the QJMOTOR SRK 800 RS has had its WorldSSP homologation reinstated after previously being suspended due to non-compliance with FIM regulations. Meanwhile, in WorldSPB, the Kove 450RR has successfully completed Phase 2 homologation, clearing the way for its participation in the 2026 season after earlier delays caused by logistical and customs issues. These developments highlight the FIM’s ongoing efforts to enforce technical parity across manufacturers while ensuring all machines meet the required standards for competition. The Assen round will serve as an early test of how the fuel flow adjustments affect the competitive order, particularly for the two Italian brands now operating under tightened constraints.
