winner by Pinfall: Buddy Landel

Mike’s thoughts: Hmm, considering that we’re not too far away from the dreaded Billionaire Ted segments, you have to wonder if they had bigger plans for Buddy Landel, who was a blatant Ric Flair rip-off. Regrettably for Landel, the next night at the WWF Superstars tapings in Bethlehem,Pennsylvania, which took place during a miserable blizzard,he slipped on the ice as he left the Stabler Arena and badly tore up his knee. That put him out of action for months and effectively ended his WWF run before it even got started. Then again, this run started with him getting beaten by Ahmed Johnson in less than a minute, and with the WCW garbage coming up, maybe it was for the best. Anyway, this match was lifeless and boring.

Coming up next, Ted DiBiase will be on The Brother Love Show. The main event will see Razor Ramon defend the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Yokozuna.

WWF Raw is War: December 25, 1995 – A Christmas Count-Out and a Shawn Michaels Retrospective

Razor Ramon faced Yokozuna for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Ramon started strong, landing right hands and a leaping clothesline that took the big man down. Yokozuna responded with a throat thrust and cornered Ramon, choking him with his foot. Ramon battled back, trading punches with the larger opponent and hitting a diving bulldog.

The match took a bizarre turn as the lights flickered and The Undertaker, accompanied by Paul bearer and the casket used on king Mabel the night before, appeared. Yokozuna, visibly terrified, fled the ring, resulting in a count-out victory for Ramon and retaining his title.

Winner by Count Out and still WWF Intercontinental Champion: Razor Ramon

Ramon shrugged off the win as his music played.

Mike’s Thoughts: this match was underwhelming, hampered by Yokozuna’s physical condition. He appeared gassed after minimal offence from Ramon, leading to a sluggish contest. The Undertaker’s appearance felt random and detracted from the ongoing title picture.

The show continued with an announcement of a special presentation for Shawn Michaels and advertisements for WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game, NFL Quarterback Club 96, and Erector sets.

Following a commercial break, Vince McMahon and Jerry “The King” Lawler announced the cancellation of next week’s Raw due to Christmas, and promoted the inaugural WWF Raw Bowl on January 1st.

Dok Hendrix interviewed Razor Ramon backstage regarding interest from Goldust. Ramon acknowledged Goldust’s advances but firmly stated his preference for women, hinting at further details not suitable for a family audience. McMahon and Lawler expressed shock at the exchange.

The show concluded with a video package showcasing Shawn Michaels’ career, specifically the infamous “Tell Me a Lie” segment.

Monday Night War: Raw vs. Nitro – December 11, 1995 Recap

This recap covers the December 11, 1995, editions of monday Night Raw and WCW Monday Nitro, continuing Wrestleview’s series commemorating 30 years of the Monday Night War.

The December 11th Nitro was highlighted by a shocking moment: Madusa (Alundra Blayze) – then the WWF Women’s Champion – publicly discarded the title belt in a trash can. This act, broadcast live, was a direct response to the WWF’s decision to discontinue its women’s division,a decision that proved short-lived as it was reinstated in 1998. The incident became a potent symbol of WCW’s aggressive stance against the WWF and fueled the escalating competition of the Monday night War.

Looking back, Madusa’s experience with WCW was ultimately underwhelming. Despite the initial impact of her arrival, she didn’t achieve significant success within the promotion. Her career trajectory shifted after leaving the WWF, and she is primarily remembered for this controversial moment. The incident also had a lasting impact on WWF owner Vince McMahon, who reportedly harbored resentment over the handling of the title. Some believe this played a role in the circumstances surrounding Bret Hart’s departure from the WWF in 1997 and the subsequent “Montreal Screwjob” incident, though the situations were distinct.

This particular Nitro also featured Randy Savage defending the WCW Championship. In contrast, Raw offered less compelling matches, including bouts featuring Jeff Jarrett and Buddy Landel.

WWF Raw (USA Network, taped): 2.3 rating (Record: 6-7-2)
WCW Nitro (TNT, live): 2.7 rating (Record: 7-6-2)

Winner: WCW Nitro (2-week streak)

The ratings continue to favor Nitro, marking its second consecutive week as the victor in the Monday Night War.

Last week’s Raw | In Your House 5

Raw will be off next week for the Christmas holiday, as it was in 1995. The series will resume in the new year, continuing coverage of the Monday Night War into 1996.
