Traveling is often associated with summer, and choosing the right electronics can considerably enhance any trip or holiday. While different devices suit different scenarios, a bluetooth speaker is a must-have for me – it comes along on almost every adventure, whether camping, at a cottage, or simply relaxing in a hammock.
Xiaomi recently equipped me with their Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker for my last two trips. Priced at CZK 1,799 in the Czech Republic, it surprisingly delivers high performance of 40 W and an appealing design. Let’s explore what makes it a worthwhile companion.
The speaker immediately impressed me with its design and build quality. Its cylindrical shape with a height of 20.2 cm isn’t handbag-sized, and the weight of 660 g is noticeable, but its appearance more then compensates.
The plastic base ensures stability on tables or even uneven outdoor surfaces like grass, which I frequently utilized.The control panel with buttons and an RGB light strip (more on that later) divides the speaker into two halves coated with fabric. This material is relatively easy to clean from dirt or impurities encountered while enjoying music in nature.
the clever design features six stripes on each half, subtly placed under the fabric surface. This detail makes the speaker more interesting to look at and touch than a simple cylinder.
the IP67 protection safeguards the speaker against dust and water splashes. It can withstand wet grass or a light rain shower without issue. The USB-C charging port is well-protected but slightly recessed.
Xiaomi also includes a cloth strap for easy portability, threading it through the designated opening.
RGB Lighting Will diversify the Visual Experience
A key design element is the RGB strip that can liven up any gathering. Xiaomi integrated it into a wider silver-colored band, which appears metallic but is actually plastic.
The lighting offers various modes, syncing with the music’s rhythm or creating a static ambiance. While not essential,it adds a fun and dynamic visual element,especially in low-light conditions.

The volume pleasantly surprised
What my chin really fell from the first music playback is the volume. Xiaomi as a maximum value indicates 93 dB and although I am not equipped with a technique to measure it,I can say with a clear conscience that the new bluetooth Speaker is really incredibly at its price. Already while listening to music in the apartment at 50 % of the volume, I was afraid that a disgruntled neighbor would ring me at any moment – and I did not even try to expel the volume even higher.
When listening outside or at a party where there are more people, the speaker will not disappoint you. 40 W is in this price category, moreover, absolutely top value – Even my JBL Charge Essential 2 with a purchase price of around 3,000 crowns boasts the same performance on paper (although I would take the argument that I paid so much money for the brand).
