Yango Group’s AI Routing Saves Commuters Millions of Hours

Yango Group, a global technology ecosystem, reported that its artificial intelligence-powered routing solutions saved urban commuters over five million hours in 2025 across more than 20 cities. This equates to nearly 600 years of time reclaimed from traffic congestion, according to a recent press release.

Significant Impact in Pakistan

Pakistan alone benefited from 832,617 hours of saved commute time in 2025, specifically within Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Commuters in Karachi saved 471,400 hours, averaging 69 minutes and 38 seconds per active user annually. Lahore saw savings of 258,141 hours, representing a 2.09% reduction in travel time. Islamabad and Rawalpindi combined saved 103,076 hours, or 23 minutes and 17 seconds per user.

How Yango’s AI Routing Works

Yango’s AI-powered routing technology utilizes machine learning, combined with real-time and historical traffic data, to identify the fastest routes. The system analyzes road layouts, traffic light cycles, turning complexity, and anticipated congestion to guide drivers efficiently. It continuously learns from the difference between expected and actual travel times, adapting to the unique traffic patterns of each city it serves.

Beyond Speed: Broader Benefits

The benefits extend beyond simply faster trips. Smarter routing reduces idle time, improves fuel efficiency, lowers emissions, and alleviates pressure on congested streets, contributing to the long-term sustainability of urban environments. Yango Group Chief Business Officer Adeniyi Adebayo stated, “Five million hours saved isn’t a tech metric. It is proof that AI can solve real urban problems at scale.”

Yango Group Overview

Founded in October 2018, Yango Group operates as a tech ecosystem offering ride-hailing, public transport data, delivery, e-grocery, adtech, maps, entertainment services, and an AI voice assistant. Headquartered in Dubai, the company serves over 30 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and South America. Yango Group initially began as a brand developed by the team of Yandex Taxi and now operates independently.

Recent Trends in Pakistan

Recent data indicates the Suzuki Alto was the most frequently booked vehicle on the Yango platform in Pakistan during 2025. Economy rides were the most popular tariff choice, and one rider completed an impressive 1,933 trips throughout the year. Yango Group likewise noted that shopping malls and bus stops were the most common destinations.

As cities grapple with increasing population density and motorization, Yango’s research highlights the potential of technology to address infrastructure challenges and improve the quality of urban life.
