A Zamboni driver in western Quebec faced impaired driving charges after a bizarre incident at a hockey rink.
According to reports, the 25-year-old driver crashed the ice-resurfacing machine into the boards at a rink in Chelsea, Quebec, while cleaning the ice between two games. A 30-second video, shared on Facebook by Sécurité Publique MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, captures the incident, showing a referee skating alongside the Zamboni as it careens into the boards with a loud crash.

Sgt. Martin Fournel of Sécurité Publique MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais stated that several witnesses saw the incident, prompting one to contact police after noticing signs of impairment. Police administered a sobriety test and subsequently arrested the rink employee. He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although a door leading onto the rink sustained damage.
