zelenskyy Highlights Progress in Peace Talks, Calls for Continued Pressure on Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasized the constructive progress being made in negotiations with international partners aimed at ending the war with Russia and preventing future aggression. He stated that each round of talks strengthens Ukrainian security interests, and this approach will continue.
“The task of actually ending the war and the need to prevent a third Russian invasion. Each round of negotiations and meetings adds security to Ukrainian interests, and this is how we will continue this work constructively,” Zelenskyy noted, according to a report by European Pravda.
The president also expressed gratitude for the support and coordination demonstrated by European partners and underscored the importance of continued dialogue with the United States. He stressed that diplomatic efforts must be coupled with sustained pressure on Russia and robust support for Ukraine.
“Every Russian strike on Ukraine and intensive Russian assaults on the front prove that Ukraine’s determination to end the war is significantly superior to Russia’s, and this must be corrected by increasing world pressure on the aggressor,” Zelenskyy said.
Recent meetings in Florida involving representatives from the US, Europe, and Ukraine have been described as productive and constructive. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed the positive nature of the negotiations, noting progress had been made. However, US Vice President J.D. Vance cautioned that a peaceful settlement is not yet guaranteed, despite the advances.
These discussions follow a statement by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov on December 21st, highlighting the positive outcomes of the three-day meetings.
