Zemcelpro® Receives NUB Status 1 in Germany, Expanding Access for Blood Cancer Patients

And its subsidiary, Cordex Biologics, announced today that Zemcelpro® (dorocubicel), also known as UM171 Cell Therapy, has been granted Status 1 listing by the NUB (Neue Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsmethoden) program in Germany. This designation will allow hospitals to apply for temporary, supplementary reimbursement for the treatment, increasing access for patients with limited therapeutic options.
What is NUB Status 1?
The NUB program in Germany evaluates innovative medical treatments not yet covered by standard health insurance. Status 1 listing signifies that Zemcelpro® is supported by a growing body of clinical evidence. This allows hospitals to seek immediate reimbursement while longer-term coverage pathways are established.
Zemcelpro®: A Novel Cell Therapy for Blood Cancers
Zemcelpro® is a personalized cryopreserved hematopoietic stem cell transplantation product developed by Cordex Biologics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ExCellThera. It contains two components derived from the same cord blood unit: UM171-expanded CD34+ cells (dorocubicel) and unexpanded CD34- cells.
Who Benefits from Zemcelpro®?
Zemcelpro® is indicated for adults with hematological malignancies requiring allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation following myeloablative conditioning, particularly those for whom no other suitable donor cells are available. It has received conditional marketing authorization from the European Commission for this patient population.
Strong Hospital Interest in Germany
Notably, 220 hospitals across Germany have already expressed interest in accessing Zemcelpro® through the NUB mechanism in 2026. Cordex will collaborate with leading transplant centers to support NUB applications and expand clinical adoption.
