50 Cent Turns Down $3 Million to Perform at Trump Rally

Rapper 50 Cent revealed in a recent interview on the “The Breakfast Club” radio show that he turned down a $3 million offer to perform at former President Donald Trump’s rally in New York City.

During the interview, host DJ Envy directly asked 50 if Trump had offered him money to endorse him. 50 confirmed this, stating that he received a call but the offer was for a performance on Sunday.

Envy then mentioned a report that 50 was approached to perform his hit song “Many Men” at the Republican National Convention earlier this year. 50 playfully confirmed both offers, saying, “They offered $3 million,” likely referring to the rally offer.

“I didn’t even go far… I didn’t talk to them about that kinda stuff. I’m afraid about politics,” 50 said, laughing. “You understand? I do not like no part about them.” He continued, explaining his reasons, “It’s because when you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you. That’s the formula for the confusion that sent Kanye to Japan.”

50 was referencing Kanye West’s controversial political statements that have significantly impacted his career, effectively banning him from performing in the U.S. and Europe. While West hosted public listening sessions for his album “Vultures” earlier this year, the public’s interest dwindled, and he has since been based in Japan, holding listening sessions in China – a perplexing decision considering China’s increasingly repressive regime.

The Trump campaign has not yet responded to Variety’s request for comment or confirmation regarding the offer to 50 Cent.

Sunday’s rally included a number of controversial comments on race, gender, and various other topics. One of the most immediately criticized remarks came from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who made a joke about Puerto Rico. “There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” he said before Trump took the stage.

Celebrities like Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Ricky Martin actively supported Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Sunday following the publicity surrounding the controversial remarks.
