In the midst of the crisis caused by the floods hitting the region, a young man from Tangier launched a civic initiative aimed at feeding dozens of stray dogs and cats in the neighborhoods and streets of Ksar El Kébir. His action comes as many residents have been evacuated, leaving behind destitute pets.
Despite the difficulties of traveling in a city largely submerged by the rising waters of the Loukkos wadi, the result of heavy rainfall, the young man, named Reda, affirms that these conditions “did not prevent him from continuing his commitment to abandoned animals who suffer in silence».
In a statement given to Le360Reda explains that he goes to Ksar El Kébir three times a week with his own vehicle. He carries bags of food for dogs and cats, which he distributes in the streets and alleys, but also sometimes on the roofs of houses surrounded by water, where certain animals find themselves trapped.
According to him, this initiative has attracted broad support from citizens and local authorities. The latter do not hesitate, on occasion, to direct it towards areas where animals now left to their own devices gather after the departure of the inhabitants and the closure of businesses.

Reda calls on civil society actors and animal protection associations to step up efforts to save these animals from hunger and provide them with the necessary care. He emphasizes that he has already identified several cases requiring urgent veterinary intervention.
