Claude Sonnet 4.6 Now Available in GitHub Copilot, Enhancing Agentic Coding

GitHub Copilot users now have access to Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.6, the latest agentic coding model designed to improve complex coding tasks and search operations. The integration, announced on February 17, 2026, expands model choice within Copilot and aims to streamline developer workflows.

What is Claude Sonnet 4.6?

Claude Sonnet 4.6 is Anthropic’s most capable Sonnet model to date, excelling in agentic coding and search-intensive tasks. This means the model can navigate large codebases, extract relevant context, and execute multi-step coding tasks with greater efficiency. Anthropic describes it as a full upgrade of the model’s skills across coding, computer use, long-reasoning, agent planning, knowledge function, and design.

Availability and Access

Claude Sonnet 4.6 is available to subscribers of GitHub Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise plans. Users can select the model through the model picker in:

The rollout is gradual, and administrators of Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Business plans must enable the Claude Sonnet 4.6 policy in Copilot settings to grant access to their teams. Microsoft notes that access may not be immediately available to all users.

Pricing Information

Currently, Claude Sonnet 4.6 launches with a 1x premium request multiplier. However, GitHub states that pricing remains tentative and is subject to change.
