Ineos Grenadiers and Performance Chief Mehdi Kordi Separate

The INEOS Grenadiers cycling team and Mehdi Kordi, Head of Performance Support and Innovation, have ended their collaboration after approximately 18 months. The split, which occurred last week, comes as the team continues a broader performance restructure .

Kordi’s Background and Initial Role

Kordi joined the INEOS Grenadiers in October 2024, bringing a strong track cycling pedigree to the WorldTour team. Prior to joining INEOS, he served as the Head Coach of the Dutch Track sprinters, leading them to significant success at the Paris 2024 Olympics, including three gold medals and a silver medal, as well as setting two world records . He also coached a total of 15 World Championship titles on the track .

His appointment was intended to introduce fresh thinking and marginal gains to the INEOS Grenadiers, particularly in areas where rivals had gained an advantage. Kordi’s expertise in track sprinting was expected to offer recent insights into speed, aerodynamics, and neuromuscular optimization .

Key Projects and Challenges

One of Kordi’s initial projects focused on improving the lead-out and finishing speed of Caleb Ewan. He worked with Ewan at the Manchester velodrome, refining his sprint capabilities . He also collaborated with Josh Tarling, a time trial specialist, on optimizing his position and equipment using track-based methods .

However, Caleb Ewan’s unexpected retirement in May curtailed the planned sprint revival within the team .

Current Status

As of February 21, 2026, Kordi remains listed on the INEOS Grenadiers website with his original biography . He was initially appointed ahead of the 2025 season .
