Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro to Feature Head Tracking and Find My Phone Capabilities

Samsung is set to unveil its next generation of wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 4 series, alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup at its upcoming Unpacked event this Wednesday. Whereas aiming to differentiate itself from comparisons to Apple’s AirPods, Samsung appears to be adopting a similar approach with at least one key new feature: head tracking.

Head Tracking Support for Enhanced Bixby Interaction

An APK teardown of the updated Galaxy Buds app, conducted by SammyGuru and shared by @antonioig002 on Twitter, reveals that the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro will support head-tracking gestures. This functionality will allow users to respond to yes-or-no questions posed by Bixby with a nod or shake of the head, answer or dismiss calls, and interrupt notifications while they are being read. This feature mirrors a similar capability found in Apple’s AirPods and Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2, though Samsung’s implementation promises broader control over alarms, timers, and reminders.

New Features Enhance Usability and Convenience

Beyond head-tracking, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro will also introduce a “Find My Phone” feature. By double-tapping the case button while the earbuds are charging, users can trigger their phone to ring, aiding in locating a misplaced device. A pinch-and-hold gesture on the earbud stems will enable users to automatically take a photo or video, though the exact timing of the capture – immediate snap or timer-based – remains unclear.

Missing Features and Future Considerations

Despite initial rumors, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro will not include a built-in speaker within the charging case. Earlier APK teardowns suggested this feature would allow for louder chime alerts to help locate misplaced earbuds, but updated visuals indicate its removal, potentially due to safety or cost considerations. This feature may be considered for future iterations, such as the Buds 5 Pro.
