Nevada Track and Field Achieves Program-Best Second Place Finish at Mountain West Championships
Reno, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack Track and Field team concluded competition at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, February 28, 2026, securing a second-place finish with 84 points. This marks the program’s highest conference finish in the Mountain West era, surpassing previous results since joining the conference in 2012 and represents the best indoor conference championship result since winning the WAC title in 2004. Key Performances
Several Nevada athletes delivered standout performances throughout the championships.
- Johanna Haas: The pentathlon silver medalist finished sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.64, contributing 3 points to the team total and accumulating 11 points overall for the Wolf Pack.
- Annalies Kalma: Ranked 15th nationally, Kalma secured a silver medal in the 400m final with a time of 51.84, earning 8 points. She then went on to win the 200m final, setting a recent school record with a time of 23.27, adding 10 points to Nevada’s score.
- Magdalene George: George placed fourth in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.36, earning 5 points for the team.
- Meekness Dogonyaro: Dogonyaro broke her own indoor school record in the triple jump, achieving a distance of 13.19m to win a silver medal and 8 points.
- Kaja Maltaric: Maltaric also excelled in the triple jump, achieving a personal best of 12.52m and moving into sixth place in program history, adding 4 points. She previously won a silver medal in the long jump.
Relay Success
The Nevada 4x400m relay team, comprised of Malena Galvan, Kylee Parsons, Halyn Senegal, and Annalies Kalma, finished second with a time of 3:38.40, earning an additional 8 points and solidifying Nevada’s second-place standing.
