March in Annapolis: A Celebration of History, Film and Community

March in Annapolis is brimming with events, from the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade to Maryland Day celebrations and the Annapolis Film Festival. The month offers a diverse range of activities showcasing the city’s history, creativity, and coastal charm.

Maryland Day – March 19-25

Maryland Day returns March 19–25, offering a week of special programs, tours, and family-friendly activities celebrating the state’s history and heritage. Over 50 partners across Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will open their doors with $1 or free admission, providing access to museums, historic buildings, heritage sites, parks, trails, and cultural experiences throughout the Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area. The celebration commemorates Maryland’s founding on March 25, 1634.

Throughout the festivities, the Visitors Center will serve as a central hub for information.

Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning – March 22

The Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning takes place on Saturday, March 22, at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. This local tradition welcomes warmer days with a bonfire for winter socks, freshly shucked oysters, and live music along the waterfront.

Annapolis Film Festival – March 26-29

The Annapolis Film Festival returns March 26–29, bringing four days of screenings, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, and special events to downtown Annapolis. More than 70 novel films will be shown before their theatrical or streaming releases. The festival has been named one of the ‘25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.’
