Leer Plumbers and Heating Engineers Guild Qualifies New Journeymen

Leer, Germany – The Leer Plumbing and Heating Engineers’ Guild recently certified thirteen new journeymen and women, marking a significant step in their careers and reinforcing the vital role of skilled trades in the region. The qualification ceremony took place at the customs house in Leer, with Mayor Claus-Peter Leer congratulating the graduates.

A Profession Essential to Modern Life

Acting guild master Benjamin Elsen highlighted the indispensable nature of the plumbing and heating profession. “Without us, no running water. Without us, no warm apartments. Without us, no barrier-free bathrooms. And without us, no energy transition,” Elsen stated, emphasizing the profession’s contribution to everyday life and the future of climate protection. He noted the importance of system mechanics for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning technology in ensuring these advancements become a reality.

Challenges and Rewards in a Secure Industry

Elsen acknowledged the challenges faced by those in the trade, including early starts, demanding construction sites, complex technology, and navigating customer expectations. Despite these hurdles, he encouraged the new journeymen and women, stating, “You have chosen a profession that is needed, today more than ever. You have a secure place in an industry that is shaping the future.”

Chantal Schoffelke from Weener and Tim Kramer from Rhauderfehn were specifically recognized by the guild for their outstanding performance in the final examinations.
