Christine King Farristhe sister of Martin Luther King y prominent activist died this Thursday June 29 at 95 years.
Farris died in Atlanta, Georgia, with his family by his sideaccording to the ‘King Center for Nonviolent Social Change’ in Atlanta, of which he was a founding member of the board of directors.
Farris participated in historical events of the civil rights movement, including the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and the “march against fear” not Mississippi not 1966.
“He influenced American history in the 20th and 21st centuries, championed the peace, freedom and justicevirtues that reflect the best of our nation,” US President Joe Biden said in a written statement. “Jill and I are saddened by his passing.”
Christine King Farris and the widow of Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott Kingformed the King Center after the murder in memphis in 1968 by avowed segregationist James Earl Ray.
