A detainee and three investigated in Illueca (Zaragoza) after finding more than a ton of meat in poor condition

The Civil Guard has arrested one person and is investigating another three after finding in an establishment open to the public and in a store/store in the town of Illueca (Zaragoza), more than 1,200 kilograms of meat products unfit for human consumption. They are alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, among others.

The arrest was carried out by the Seprona de Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Provincial Service of the Department of Health of the Government of Aragon, within the framework of the ‘Operation Pinch‘.

After finding indications that pieces of meat could be marked with Sanitary seals of decommissioned slaughterhouses in the corresponding registry, as well as that they were carrying out sacrificial work in unauthorized places To this end, in March 2023 both this establishment and the local store were inspected.

In the establishment open to the public, various sanitary deficienciesin addition to 36 kilograms of meat products unfit for human consumption.

In the local-warehouse, tools typical of the slaughter work were observed, as well as refrigerating chambers, freezers and up to 1,200 kilograms of meat products of various kinds, which they were not identified or there was no accrediting documentation justifying their traceability. In both cases, the products were ruled by the Health Services as unfit for human consumption.
