Spain Selects Airbus to Led Hurjet Integrated Training System Development

Regarding the order for Hurjet combat trainer jets by the Spanish Air Force, further news was released on December 30, 2025, announcing that the Spanish Ministry of Defense has selected Airbus Defense adn Space to lead the development and implementation of a new combat Integrated Training system (ITS-C) for the Spanish Air and Space Force.

This contract, co-led by Airbus as the national coordinator for Spain, and Turkish Aerospace as the manufacturer of Hurjet fighter trainer jets, aims to replace the existing fleet of SF-5M aircraft and covers the entire advanced training process for Spanish fighter pilots.

This includes the procurement of 30 Hurjet jet trainer aircraft from Turkish Aerospace, the conversion of the fleet with Spanish components according to customer requirements, the creation of an Aircraft Conversion Center in Spain, the repair of the Training Center at the Fighter and Attack School at Talavera la Real Air Base in Extremadura, and the provision of integrated operations and maintenance services at this base.

The program is divided into two simultaneous stages. The first phase includes the delivery of 30 Hurjet units in initial configuration, certification in Spain, and delivery to customers throughout 2028 and 2029.
