Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is temporarily closing its two El Paso locations – Montecillo and East Side on Pellicano Drive – for a rebrand, according to a recent social media post.
The closures come after Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain in March 2024. At the time of the acquisition, Sony noted that five dallas-area Alamo locations had closed and the franchisee had filed for bankruptcy. Sony Pictures currently operates 50 locations across the united States, including 15 franchised locations, making it the seventh-largest movie-theater chain in North America.
Triple Tap Ventures, the Houston-based company that previously operated the Alamo Drafthouse locations, has detailed refund procedures for affected customers. All outstanding ticket orders will be automatically canceled, and refunds will be issued via email. Customers needing assistance are encouraged to contact their local venue.
