According to the Brentwood Police Department, “After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken.
Taylor had previously stated that Ritchson and his children had been speeding on motorcycles in their residential neighborhood.
Video footage from a body cam worn by Ritchson shows the entire altercation from the actor’s perspective.
The video shows Taylor attempting to block Ritchson’s motorcycle in the street and confronting the actor. Ritchson then dismounted his bike and pushed Taylor to the ground.
As Ritchson attempted to exit, Taylor pushed him, causing him to fall off his motorcycle. Ritchson then struck Taylor multiple times before ceasing the attack. Authorities determined Ritchson’s reaction was self-defense due to Taylor initiating the physical contact.
Following the incident, Ritchson posted a Napoleon Bonaparte quote on Instagram: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
