Alex Albon Out of São Paulo Grand Prix Following Qualifying Crash
Williams driver Alex Albon will be unable to compete in the São Paulo Grand Prix after a severe crash during qualifying.
Heavy Impact at Turn 1
Albon lost control of his Williams on the high-speed approach to Turn 1, clipping the edge of the track and spinning into a barrier. The impact was significant, leaving his car with substantial damage.
Damage Too Extensive for Repair
“I’m out, for sure. There’s no way,” Albon confirmed to Viaplay when asked about the damage to his car. Pressed further on whether he would race, he reiterated, “There’s no way.”
Set to Start From Seventh Despite Crash
Prior to the crash, Albon had secured the second-fastest time in Q3, demonstrating his impressive pace despite the challenging wet conditions.
Fifth Crash of Qualifying Session
Albon’s crash marked the fifth incident across the three qualifying sessions, adding to the already intense pressure on teams and drivers. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso also experienced crashes throughout qualifying.
Despite the setback, Albon is set to start from seventh on the grid.
