She Is The Music Celebrates Women in the Industry with Honors for Megan Moroney and Sylvia Rhone
West Hollywood, CA – On February 18, 2026, She Is The Music hosted its second annual “Sharing the Spotlight” event at Delilah in West Hollywood, honoring music executive Sylvia Rhone and country artist Megan Moroney for their contributions to the music industry. The event, sponsored by Spotify Equal, Live Nation Women, and Believe Tunecore, brought together prominent figures to celebrate women and advocate for increased representation in music.
Recognizing Industry Leaders
She Is The Music, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women working in music, presented Sylvia Rhone with the Trailblazer Award. Rhone previously held the positions of chairwoman and chief executive officer of Epic Records, becoming the first woman to lead a major record label in those roles. She emphasized the importance of continued progress and collaboration within the industry, stating, “We’ve been building this for a long time and finally it has somebody to it. It has some numbers to it, and it has dialogue that’s incredibly significant and that can make a change.”
Megan Moroney Honored for Rising Success
Country artist Megan Moroney received the Artist Spotlight award, recognizing her breakout success and the all-female team supporting her career. Introduced by Alicia Keys, Moroney expressed her gratitude and spoke about the importance of women supporting each other in a traditionally competitive industry. “I consider sometimes we’re taught—subtly or not—that there’s only room for a few women at the top. But music and creating art isn’t a competition for oxygen. I’m positive that when one of us wins, it stretches the ceiling higher for the next girl watching,” Moroney said.
Alicia Keys Champions Female Empowerment
Alicia Keys, co-founder of She Is The Music, highlighted the organization’s mission to foster camaraderie and support among women in the music industry. She shared her belief that creating communities where women can connect and uplift each other is crucial for success. Keys, along with UMPG Chairman & CEO Jody Gerson, recording and mix engineer Ann Mincieli, and UTA’s co-Head of Music Sam Kirby Yoh, co-founded She Is The Music after a 2018 USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative report revealed significant underrepresentation of women in music production.
A Night of Support and Inspiration
The event drew a notable crowd, including Diane Warren and other She Is The Music co-founders. The evening underscored the importance of mentorship and creating opportunities for women to thrive in all aspects of the music business. Jody Gerson emphasized the power of established women mentoring “rising stars,” fostering a supportive environment for growth and success. Moroney playfully acknowledged the strength of her team, calling them her “get-shit-done-ers” and emphasizing their collaborative problem-solving approach.
Rhone concluded her remarks with a message of optimism, stating, “Music is in very good hands, so let’s keep opening doors wider than we found them.”
