Anas sarwar has described an allegation that a former Scottish Labour MSP hid a secret camera in a Holyrood toilet as “deeply distressing adn shocking”.colin Smyth, 52, is facing a criminal charge over the claim, which he denies.
He had his parliamentary pass revoked last week following the allegation.
Scottish Labour leader Mr Sarwar said the party was co-operating fully with the examination.
“These are deeply distressing and shocking allegations,” he said.
“We are co-operating fully with the authorities and it is right that due process is followed.
“I want too be clear that if these allegations are proven to be true, it would be a gross breach of trust and completely unacceptable.”
Police Scotland confirmed they were investigating after officers were called to the Scottish Parliament on 18 December.
Mr Smyth, who represents South Scotland, has been an MSP since 2016. He was previously suspended from the Labour group in the Scottish Parliament.
He is due to appear in court at a later date.
