Carlo Ancelotti to Lead Brazil Through 2030 World Cup

Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of the Brazil national football team, has confirmed he intends to extend his contract with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) through 2030. This extension would spot the Italian manager lead the Seleção through at least two FIFA World Cups.

A New Challenge for the Veteran Manager

Ancelotti, 66, began his managerial career primarily focusing on club football, achieving success with teams such as Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Italian national team early in his career, but this marks his first time as the head coach of a national side. He described the role as a welcome change, stating, “It’s a new position for me, but I really like it.” [1]

Looking Ahead to Major Tournaments

Since taking the helm of the Brazilian national team in May 2025, Ancelotti has guided the team through qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. [1] With the contract extension, he is set to oversee Brazil’s participation in the 2030 World Cup as well. Ancelotti will lead the team in upcoming Copa América tournaments.
