Assassin’s Creed Shadows Receives First Major Update of 2026 with Manual Jump Feature
Ubisoft released a significant update, version 1.1.8, for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. This update reintroduces the highly requested manual jumping feature, nearly a year after the game’s initial release in feudal Japan.
Feature Updates and Quality Improvements
The 1.1.8 update, enabled through the Advanced Parkour setting, directly addresses community feedback. Alongside the manual jump, Ubisoft has implemented two additional player-requested improvements:
- Detailed Statistics Page: Allows players to analyze character builds with greater granularity.
- Critical Strike Visual Improvements: Enhances visual feedback during critical attacks, making damage output clearer.
These changes are expected to improve the overall player experience.
Post-Launch Support and Comparison
Update 1.1.8 marks the first substantial addition to Assassin’s Creed Shadows in 2026. The previous update, 1.1.7, launched in December 2025, concluding a period of consistent post-launch support over the first nine months after release.
According to Ubisoft’s winter roadmap, this update is likely to be the only major one before the game’s first anniversary celebration on March 20, which will include a livestream and giveaways.
The level of post-launch support for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has drawn comparisons to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which received three major expansions, one Odyssey DLC crossover, one epilogue DLC, and several new game modes. This comparison suggests a potentially more limited scope of support for Shadows.
Expansions and Other Projects
In addition to the core game updates, the Claws of Awaji expansion is scheduled for release on the Switch 2 on March 10, 2026. This expansion will conclude the game’s main narrative and is anticipated to be the final major expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
However, reports earlier this month indicated that Ubisoft has canceled plans for a multiplayer component to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, originally intended as DLC. This DLC would have featured four Assassins collaborating on structured missions, concluding a now-canceled Season Pass storyline.
Looking ahead to 2026, a remaster of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is widely anticipated, though Ubisoft has not officially confirmed its release.
