Bad Company Fishing Adventures Transitions Leadership with New Game Boat

Bad Company Fishing Adventures is entering a new phase, with a leadership transition and the introduction of a state-of-the-art 50-foot game boat, the BadCo 50 Croswait, built by Croswait Composites. This marks a significant step for the renowned sportfishing program as it prepares for future expeditions.

Leadership Transition

After 43 World tour trips, the current captain will be handing over duties to BadCo 50 Croswait. This transition is anticipated to take place following Leg 17 in Brazil, with a public release of footage next Sunday and an early release for CREW members this Sunday. Details were shared on Facebook regarding the upcoming change.

Introducing the BadCo 50 Croswait

The BadCo 50, designed and built by Croswait Custom Composites in Wanchese, North Carolina, represents a significant investment in modern game boat technology. Bad Company Fishing Adventures emphasizes that every aspect of the boat’s design and construction is geared towards high-performance fishing on a global scale.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Builder: Croswait Customs
  • Hull Material: Composite with extensive carbon fiber leverage to reduce weight and improve performance.
  • Engines: Twin MAN I6-850 engines, capable of reaching speeds of up to 44 knots.
  • Dimensions: 50 feet in length, designed to be hoisted aboard the mothership BCS175.
  • Cockpit: 150 square feet with mezzanine seating and a split center door to the salon.
  • Weight: Target dry weight of 34,000 pounds.
  • Design Collaboration: Naval architects Blunt and Associates, and advisor Brooks Smith contributed to the design.

Global Fishing Expeditions

The BadCo 50 is designed to support Bad Company Fishing Adventures’ pursuit of world-class marlin in remote blue waters around the globe. The fleet is currently preparing for Leg 18 to the Galapagos Islands, with a generator set rebuild on the BCS175 scheduled to begin Monday, and a planned departure from Lauderdale in approximately three weeks. Instagram posts confirm the team is preparing to fish with the new boat for the first time.

Croswait Composites and the Design Process

Croswait Composites focused on balancing performance, size, and practicality, considering the weight and height restrictions imposed by the need to hoist the boat aboard a mothership. According to Marlin Magazine, the boat features a versatile cockpit, efficient bridge, and a smart interior with carbon-fiber finishes.

The BadCo 50 is finished in BadCo Matte Grey with black metal piping and incorporates space-age lightweight materials throughout to maximize performance.
