Penn responded in the second, with Anthony DeCesare doubling and later scoring on an RBI single by Sal Mineo. The Quakers tied the game in the same inning when Qwynn Ahearn’s RBI single brought Spaventa home.
The Blue Hens regained the lead in the fifth inning, adding two runs on a double by Jeremy Wolf and an RBI single by Anthony Charles. Delaware extended their advantage to 5-1 in the sixth, but Penn fought back in the bottom of the frame. A leadoff double by Secretarski and a walk by Ahearn set the stage for Jack Warner’s sacrifice fly, narrowing the gap to 5-3.
Despite the late rally, Penn was unable to overcome Delaware’s lead. The Blue Hens’ reliever, Jackson Hulcher, secured the save, and Doug Marose was credited with the win.
