Delhi Man Arrested in Bengaluru for Harassment of Kerala Woman at Youth Hostel

Bengaluru police have arrested a 39-year-classic man from Delhi, identified as Manu Sharma, for allegedly harassing a 28-year-old woman from Kottayam, Kerala, at a youth hostel in Domlur Second Stage. The incident, captured on the hostel’s CCTV camera, occurred around 9 pm on Wednesday and involved Sharma throwing snooker sticks and balls at the woman, as well as verbal abuse.

Details of the Incident

The victim, a resident of Kottayam, Kerala, filed a complaint with the Indiranagar police in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to the complaint, Sharma had been harassing her for several days, persistently seeking a romantic relationship despite her repeated refusals. The harassment escalated in the hostel’s games room, near the snooker table, where Sharma allegedly made obscene remarks towards her and other female residents, using derogatory language.

Police Response and Charges

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police arrested Sharma from the hostel. An officer stated that Sharma claimed to be in Bengaluru searching for employment. A case has been registered against him under section 74 of the BNS, pertaining to assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
