Tiwa Savage and Berklee College of Music Launch Intensive Program for Nigerian Musicians
Lagos, Nigeria – Global Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage is partnering with Berklee College of Music to provide world-class music education to emerging Nigerian talent. The collaboration, spearheaded by the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, will launch the Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, a four-day intensive training session taking place in Lagos from April 23–26, 2026.
A First for West Africa
This program marks the first time Berklee College of Music will host an event in West Africa, signaling a significant investment in the region’s rapidly growing music industry. The initiative aims to expand access to high-quality music education for 100 aspiring musicians, composers, and music industry professionals. CNN reports that Savage believes access, not just attention, is key to sustaining the Afrobeats boom.
Program Details
The Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program will immerse participants in the Berklee teaching methodology, connecting them with both artistic and industry leaders. The curriculum will cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Performance
- Songwriting
- Music Production
- Music Business
- Harmony and Ear Training
- Music Publishing and Copyright
- Entertainment Law
Participants will engage in lectures, workshops, and ensembles designed to elevate their professional musicianship skills. The program is designed to meet participants at their current skill level and expand their creative range. Application Information
Applications for the 2026 Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program are currently open and will be accepted through March 20, 2026. Berklee’s website provides details on how to apply.
Applicants must submit:
- An online application form
- A video link (2-3 minutes) showcasing performance skills and musicianship, recorded within the last six months.
Applicants must be at least 18 years classic and have at least one year of experience playing an instrument or singing.
Program Costs and Logistics
There is no tuition fee to attend the program. But, participants are responsible for their own travel, housing, meals, and other related expenses. The program will generally run from 10:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Each day and will be held in Lagos, Nigeria. Specific locations will be communicated to accepted students prior to the program start date.
