Bersatu Regains Control of Facebook Account After Internal Sabotage

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has successfully regained full control of its official Facebook account after it was compromised by unauthorized individuals who posted content attacking and mocking party president Muhyiddin Yassin. The party confirmed regaining access at 12:41 AM today, February 15, 2026.

Breach Details and Timeline

According to Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid, the party first detected the sabotaged posts on February 14 at 8:54 AM. The breach lasted nearly 15 hours. During this period, a total of 21 posts were uploaded by an administrator without authorization.

These posts were designed to portray former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin favorably while simultaneously criticizing Muhyiddin Yassin. The unauthorized administrator has since been removed from the account, and control has been restored to authorized party officials.

Internal Conflict and Response

The incident follows a period of internal conflict within Bersatu, which escalated when Hamzah Zainudin was sacked from the party on February 13. The rogue Facebook posts surfaced a day later, shocking followers with their critical stance towards the party’s leadership.

Armada Bersatu Malaysia expressed gratitude for its role, alongside other individuals, in resolving the issue. A statement released by the party indicated the incident highlights the presence of “wolves in sheep’s clothing and enemies within” among a small number of party members.
