Search Intensifies for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy Guthrie, as Modern Evidence Emerges

The search for Nancy Guthrie, 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Today present host Savannah Guthrie, continues to captivate national attention as investigators pursue leads in the case, now entering its 20th day. Recent discoveries near Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona home have added a concerning new dimension to the investigation, which began on February 1st.

Bloodied Gloves and Rock Found Near Home

An Arizona couple discovered a pair of blood-stained gloves and a rock with a dried blood droplet near Nancy Guthrie’s residence, according to reports. Concerned about a potential connection to the ongoing investigation, they immediately contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. The wife described the gloves as appearing “used for something that could’ve possibly been what they were looking for,” while the husband noted the presence of a blood droplet on the rock beneath one of the gloves. They refrained from touching the items to avoid contaminating potential evidence.

Investigation Continues, DNA Analysis Underway

Investigators questioned the couple and secured the scene, remaining on site until 2:00 AM. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that multiple gloves have been collected from the area surrounding Guthrie’s home, including those found by the couple. However, officials have not yet confirmed if the bloodied gloves are among those being analyzed for DNA evidence.

“We cannot confirm at this time. Detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area and analysis is part of the investigation,” the department stated. Initial DNA analysis from other recovered gloves has not yielded any matches in the FBI’s database.

Previous Reports and Concerns

The investigation began after Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her $1 million home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills community. Authorities initially described the situation as a “possible kidnapping or abduction.” Early in the investigation, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos cautioned against the spread of “unverified accusations or false information” regarding potential suspects.

Savannah Guthrie, along with her siblings Annie and Camron, previously issued a public plea for information regarding their mother’s whereabouts, emphasizing her kind nature and the distress caused by her disappearance. They too highlighted Nancy Guthrie’s fragile health and the urgent necessitate for her medication.

Ongoing Search and Limited Information

As of February 20, 2026, the search for Nancy Guthrie remains active. Authorities continue to investigate all leads, but have released limited information to the public to protect the integrity of the investigation.
