The National Policein collaboration with the Navyhas boarded a sailboat that was heading to the Spanish coasts with 50 bales containing 1,500 kilos of cocainein an operation in which its four crew members have been arrested and the vessel has been sunk in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

It’s about the sixth intervened vessel to criminal organizations from the East, consolidated as the leaders in drug trafficking by seaas highlighted this Monday by the National Police, which has intervened 13 tons of cocaine in so far this year.

The investigations into the narcosailer began, however, at the beginning of 2022, when the agents received information about people who were going to use Spain as a logistics point to bring about a big cocaine operation.

With the progress of the investigation, the agents detected in a port of Alicante the sailboat that was going to be used by the organization, and fully identified its crew members. The vessel, which claimed to fly the United States flag, sailed to Tenerife where she landed, providing false information and changing its flag to that of Bulgaria.

At first, those investigated traveled from Tenerife to South America, arriving in Brazil, where they had to repair the boat to be able to navigate to the Caribbean. At the end of last April, once they finished conditioning the sailboat, they sailed from the island of Santa Lucía to the south in order to receive the illicit merchandise that had been agreed to be transported to Spain.
