Former Boxer Jonathan Hill Charged in Fiji drug Conspiracy

Suva, Fiji – Jonathan hill, a former boxer and the elder brother of Fijian Olympian Winston Hill, has been charged with conspiracy to import illicit drugs following a large-scale drug raid in Vatia, Fiji. He appeared before the Ba Magistrates’ Court on January 27,2026,alongside four other individuals implicated in the case.

Hill faces one count of Conspiracy to Commit the Importation of Illicit Drugs, violating Section 49 of the Crimes Act 2009 and Section 8 of the Illicit Drugs Control act 2004. Authorities allege that between November 1, 2025, and January 15, 2026, Hill and his co-conspirators engaged in a scheme to unlawfully import, transport, transfer, and store approximately 2,644 kilograms of illicit drugs within Fiji.

The Vatia drug raid, conducted last week, represents one of the largest drug seizures in recent Fijian history. While the specific type of illicit drug has not been officially confirmed, the substantial quantity seized indicates a significant operation.Law enforcement officials have stated the inquiry is ongoing, with further arrests and charges anticipated as the inquiry progresses.

During his escort from the Ba Magistrates’ Court, Hill was observed holding a handwritten sign expressing remorse and affection, reading: “I’m sorry Mum and jhaday, I love you.” This gesture suggests a personal impact from the allegations and legal proceedings.

The case has garnered significant public attention in Fiji, particularly due to jonathan Hill’s familial connection to Winston Hill, a celebrated athlete who represented Fiji in the Olympics.
