# bronx Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Resource Event

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L.Gibson’s Office kicked off October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with a special resource event on Wednesday, Oct. 1, outside Bronx Borough Hall, located at 851 Grand Concourse.

The event, held in partnership with Essen Health care and the American Cancer Society, featured tables set up by NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and essen Health Care that provided community members with valuable resources,including free mammogram referrals,upcoming events,gifts and more.

Speaking at the event, Borough President Gibson emphasized the importance of early detection and access to care. “Breast cancer impacts so many families in the Bronx, and we want to ensure that our community has the resources they need to stay informed, get screened and receive the support they deserve,” she said.

Representatives from Essen Health Care were on hand to discuss preventative care and screenings, while the American Cancer Society provided information on support services and advocacy efforts. NYC Health + Hospitals/lincoln offered details on their comprehensive breast health services.

the event also featured music and refreshments, creating a welcoming atmosphere for community members to learn and connect.

“We are proud to partner with Borough President Gibson and the American Cancer Society to bring these vital resources to the Bronx,” said a representative from Essen Health Care. “Early detection is key to successful treatment, and we are committed to helping our community access the care they need.”

October is a critical time to raise awareness about breast cancer, and this event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community collaboration in the fight against this disease.
