**Former Rugby Star Brendan Mullin Found Guilty of Bank Fraud**

Brendan Mullin, a former rugby international, has been convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands of euros from Bank of Ireland Private Bank. The jury delivered guilty verdicts on 12 out of 14 charges, concluding a three-week trial in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Mullin, 61, faced nine counts of theft exceeding €570,000 from the bank between 2011 and 2013, along with five charges of false accounting. He vehemently denied all allegations throughout the trial. Judge Martin Nolan directed the jury to acquit Mullin on a separate deception charge.

**Allegations of Misappropriation and Fraudulent Transfers**

The prosecution presented evidence alleging that Mullin acted dishonestly when directing payments from the private bank to McCann Fitzgerald solicitors, Beechwood accountants, and Grant Thornton. These payments, according to the prosecution, were intended for work conducted either personally by Mullin or for his firm, Quantum Investment Strategies.

Furthermore, the prosecution claimed Mullin stole €500,000 from Bank of Ireland during a communication breakdown within the banking group. This money, it was alleged, was ultimately transferred to Spice Holdings, a company registered in the British Virgin Islands, a client Mullin had brought to the bank.

**Sentencing to Follow**

Judge Nolan expressed gratitude to the jury for their dedication and remanded Mullin on continuing bail. A sentencing date will be set in court today. This verdict marks a significant conclusion to a high-profile financial fraud case involving a prominent figure in Irish sport.
