# Giants’ Daboll Under Review for Concussion Protocol Incident
Brian Daboll may have overstepped boundaries when he approached the injury tent during Jaxon Dart’s concussion evaluation. The NFL has launched a joint review with the Players Association too determine if the Giants and Daboll followed concussion protocol correctly in clearing Dart. Teams face fines up to $150,000 for initial violations.
Daboll explained he simply checked on his quarterback, stating, “I stuck my head in to see how our quarterback was doing. Just asked him, ‘How are you doing?’ In no way would I want a player to come back out there that wasn’t ready to play.I think I have great respect for that process.” Running back Cam skattebo also briefly visited Dart. The situation is further complex by reports of Daboll yelling at team physician Dr. Scott Rodeo. Daboll has as apologized to Rodeo, but the NFL is highly likely to scrutinize a coach whose actions could compromise player safety.
giants owner John Mara, a member of the NFL’s Health and Safety committee, acknowledged the incident. “While I firmly believe… he was not trying to influence the process in any way, he understands that the appearance of going to the tent is inappropriate,” Mara stated. He affirmed the team’s full cooperation with the NFL and NFLPA review.
Daboll emphasized his understanding of concussion test durations, adding, “However long it’s going to be is how long it’s going to be relative to making a game-time decision.” Despite past instances of his passionate sideline behaviour, this marks Daboll’s first league-involved incident.
