Norwegian Home Guard Exercise Leads to Police Response in Ørsta
On Friday afternoon, police in Ørsta, Norway, responded to a report of an individual seen with camouflage clothing, a helmet, and a weapon. The incident occurred amidst ongoing exercises conducted by the Norwegian Home Guard (Heimevernet) in the region.
Initial Response and Investigation
Following the report, multiple police patrols were dispatched to investigate. Operations Manager Sindre Molnes of the Møre og Romsdal police district explained that authorities initially suspected a connection to the Home Guard exercises, which had been taking place in several locations within the district. However, the reported location was not an official exercise area, necessitating a thorough check to ensure public safety.
“We therefore went in with fairly low shoulders,” Molnes stated to VG, indicating a cautious approach to the situation.
