Carly Rae Jepsen’s lead single from her forthcoming double LP has arrived. The pop-rockish “On Wires” is the first offering from the 24-track Day and Night. Check out the Caio Vieira-directed music video for it below.
In a new interview with NME, Jepsen spoke of the single’s origins as a “come hither” track, before needing to change course on the idea she had for the song’s visuals. “I pictured chasing this man through the streets of New York,” she said, adding “But then, by the time we shot the video… was like, ‘How do I chase a man through the streets when I’m six months pregnant?’ It would look like I’m looking for child support! So my creative directors came up with this concept where there’s, like, this really beautiful tug-of-war between me and the microphone cable. And the more we talked about it, the more it became [a metaphor for] what was really going on in my life, which was me carving out space for my personal life within the business of music, while I’m in the middle of this pregnancy.”

How to Verify Artist Announcements
To distinguish between genuine music news and online rumors, fans should look for these three indicators:
- Direct Attribution: Legitimate news stories cite specific PR representatives, official press releases, or confirmed social media posts from the artist.
- Date Verification: Reliable reporting includes the date of the announcement. If a story lacks a timestamp or cites an "upcoming" project without a corresponding release date, it is likely speculative.
- Platform Availability: Major label releases are accompanied by pre-save links on platforms like Spotify, Tidal, or Amazon Music. If a project cannot be found on these platforms, it has not been officially scheduled for release.
