Cars Swept Away: Construction in Sentul City Halts Due to Bogor Flooding

BOGOR, KOMPAS.com – The Bogor Regency Government has officially temporarily closed housing project construction activities in the Sentul City area, Bojong Koneng Village, Babakan Madang District. This step was taken following the mud and rock flood disaster that hit the area on Wednesday (11/2/2026).

The flood, which carried mud and stone, went viral after causing a car to be swept away by the strong current.

The closure was carried out after the Land and Spatial Planning Service (DPTR) together with the One Stop Integrated Services and Investment Service (DPMPTSP) carried out a surprise inspection of the location on Thursday (12/2/2026).

Acting Head of the Bogor Regency DPTR, Eko Mujiarto, emphasized that this temporary closure aims to prevent the potential for subsequent flooding while ensuring the safety of the area.

“We have carried out field inspections due to yesterday’s flooding in the ER 13 area Sentul City“The step taken by the district government is the temporary closure of development activities,” Eko told reporters.

Evaluation of Permits and Land Strength

Eko explained that the closure would last until all technical aspects were stated clear and clean. Bogor Regency Government They will also re-evaluate permits and the strength of the land to ensure whether the location is still suitable for use as a residential area.

“In addition to closing, an evaluation will be carried out on permits and the technical condition of the land. If it is still technically feasible and clear and clean, the developer can continue according to the established procedures,” he said.

However, if the evaluation results show that natural conditions do not allow it to continue, the Bogor Regency Government will ask the developer to immediately adjust its development plans.

Sentul City Promises to Strengthen Drainage

The management of PT Sentul City Tbk stated that they were cooperative regarding the inspection. Director of PT Sentul City Tbk, Jeyson Pribadi, said that his party gave full access to the Bogor Regency Government team to review their drainage system.

“We accept this inspection as a form of constructive supervision. The Company is committed to following all Bogor Regency Government directions and ensuring that mitigation measures are implemented according to regulations,” said Jeyson.

Jeyson ensured that the water runoff that occurred did not enter residential areas in the cluster and had been successfully handled. His party promised to carry out reforestation and strengthen the water catchment function on undeveloped land as long-term mitigation.

“The development of the Sentul City area is carried out with the principle of compliance. We continue to carry out greening programs and strengthening the water catchment function, including optimizing tree planting on undeveloped land as a long-term mitigation measure. In the future, we will evaluate it. The safety of residents and environmental sustainability remain our main priorities,” he said.

Two Villages in Babakan Madang Affected

Meanwhile in Cijayanti Village, specifically in Babakan Cicarewed Village, floods submerged residential areas from RT 01 to RT 05. It was recorded that dozens of houses were submerged in water and 8 of them were reported to have suffered serious damage due to the flood.
