Newark and surrounding areas are bracing for a significant weather event as a Winter storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM tomorrow, February 13, 2024.
Residents are warned to expect heavy snow, with total accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible. The storm is expected to bring hazardous travel conditions, including slippery roads and reduced visibility.
The National Weather Service predicts that the heaviest snowfall rates will occur overnight tonight into Tuesday morning.
Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. If travel is unavoidable, exercise extreme caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

It is indeed currently 31 degrees in downtown Newark at Broad and Market, with winds out of the west at 13 mph, making conditions feel colder and adding a noticeable wind chill through the morning hours.
